Butler County REC offers co-op members high-efficiency Marathon electric water heaters. The cost is*:

• 50 gallon (tall or short) $600 

• 85 gallon $650

• 105 gallon $850

*Plus appropriate tax.

New homes or replacing gas water heaters: 50-gal, $200; 85-gal, $250; 105-gal, $550. Appropriate sales tax will be applied. 

A rebate from must be filled out, and a load control receiver (LCR) will be installed on the unit. The rebate is dependent on installation of the LCR. You will receive a one-time $10 incentive for participating in the LCR program. The LCR connected to your water heater will automatically - and virtually unnoticed - operate to manage electric use during peak demand times.

Rebates on Marathon water heaters are applied instantly to the retail cost when purchased. All other rebates $200 and less will be applied as bill credits.
